Headbutts have long been outlawed in MMA. And judging from a recent Lethwei fight in Japan, it’s probably for the best.
Lethwei is bareknuckle boxing from the country of Myanmar. The combatants only compete wearing gauze and tape on their hands. It’s considered “The Art of 9 Limbs” as fighters are encouraged to use headbutts along with the usual array of muay Thai techniques. Aiming to use this legal technique to the best of his ability, Thara-The Ta Pwint decided use his head, literally, while facing Hikaru Hasumi. Props to Twitter user Jolassanda for catching this brutal display of violence and reminding us why headbutts are illegal in MMA.

Clearly, Pwint is a fan of The Juggernaut from the X-Men series.
