WASHINGTON, D.C. — Today, the Professional Fighters League announced two key executive hires in advance of its debut season in January 2018. Effective immediately, joining the Professional Fighters League are:
• George Greenberg, Executive Vice President and Executive Producer
• Will Blair, Executive Vice President, Sponsorship and Revenue Partnerships
“As the Professional Fighters League charges ahead toward our January debut, we are adding elite leadership to our already outstanding staff,” said Carlos Silva, President of Business Operations and Event Production.
Greenberg will oversee all production and editorial for all Professional Fighters League broadcasts, bringing unparalleled experience and creativity developed over 40 years in sports television production, including the last 23 with Fox Sports.
Silva added: “George is a pioneer in television sports production, having created revolutionary concepts that are now standard TV practice. His addition to the Professional Fighters League as Executive Producer means MMA fans can expect an innovative, accessible, and compelling product for 2018 unlike anything they’ve ever seen before.”
George Greenberg is a 16-time Emmy Award-winning producer and director with over 40 years of experience in television production. He most recently served as EVP of Content Integration and Presentation for FOX Sports, overseeing content integration flow within all FOX Sports 1 and FOX Sports 2 programs, and supervising UFC production efforts, FOX studio directors, and Premier Boxing Championships. Greenberg was instrumental in the launch of Fox Sports and during his career was key in launching and helped oversee the conception and production of Fox and Fox Sports broadcasts of the NFL, MLB, and NHL. He also was a producer for ABC’s broadcast of the Summer and Winter Olympic Games in 1984 and the Winter Games in 1988.
“I am thrilled to be part of the Professional Fighters League, and believe deeply in their mission to bring the sport league format to mixed martial arts,” said Greenberg. “We will bring innovation to television, tablets, and mobile devices, including seamlessly integrated social and analytics features, that allow both existing MMA fans and newcomers to experience the sport and its fighters like never before.”
Will Blair will lead all sales sponsorship and revenue partnerships. Will joins the Professional Fighters League after serving as SVP of Partnership Development at WME/IMG representing the sports and entertainment portfolio to brand marketers in major relationships. Blair has had a 25-year career in the sports and entertainment industries and previously worked for over a decade at Turner Sports. He is also a former football scholarship athlete and graduated from Wake Forest University.
“The Professional Fighters League is building a brand of innovation, hard-work, and respect,” said Silva. “Will is the proven sales leader that can help us become a great partner for our sponsors.”
“Mixed martial arts is the fastest growing sport among young audiences between 18 and 35 years old,” said Blair. “The Professional Fighters League has the vision and product that is ideal for forging game-changing partnerships with major brands and companies, and I look forward to continuing our outreach in the weeks and months ahead.”
