PFL’s Kayla Harrison has earned many accolades, including two Olympic gold medals, throughout her athletic career. Now, the former Olympian can add another.
The editors at Sports Illustrated had unenviable task of determining the top 50 fittest athletes in sports. Seeking help from a number of experts, the SI team put together an intriguing list. Among those listed was Harrison, clocking in at No. 30 for women.
After winning the Olympic gold medal in both London and Rio, Harrison is ready to move on from Judo. What’s next, though, is unclear. She recently wrote about how her love for judo and her commitment to training helped get her through some extremely difficult times in her life. Now, though retired, she still “has some fire left,” as she wrote in CNN. There have been talks of a potential MMA career, and though the mat vs. the cage is a difficult adjustment, Harrison certainly has shown the resiliency, dedication and strength to succeed in a new, challenging sport (Sports Illustrated).

The future MMA competitor beat out a number of well-known athletes. Stars such as Lolo Jones, Elena Delle Donne and Danica Patrick were all ranked behind Harrison on SI’s list.
Harrison joins a number of women’s MMA competitors such as Cris Cyborg and Karolina Kowalkiewicz. The men’s side features some MMA flavor as well, including Conor McGregor placing inside the top 10.
